Luke 5:37-39 NIVUK
no-one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined.
No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no-one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, “The old is better.” ’

Well in these verses Jesus tells us that our old habits and outdated ways of thinking can’t contain the fresh, transformative power that He wants to pour into our lives!
"Out with the old, in with the new"
We can be confident in this old adage, because God’s not about patching up our past; He’s into creating a whole new future for us." the future that he had planned for us before He created us!
Sadly, all of us like to cling to our comfort zones, the familiarity of our routines, and even our fears! We've conditioned ourselves into thinking "I can manage my skin, it's oddly comfortable, and it fits!"
But Jesus invites us to embrace the new, to let go of the old, and let His Spirit fill us anew, bursting through the limits that we've set and accepted for ourselves!
And the reality of His invitation is this;
"We don’t just 'upgrade' our old wineskin, we get a brand new one that's ready for Jesus' fresh, overflowing love, joy and the purpose that he has for us."
We need the transformative power that Christ offers simply because 'new wine' must go into a 'new wineskins', and we can't change ourselves, it's Christ that does that bit!
But for transformation to happen our hearts, our minds, and our lives need to be flexible, open, and willing to change. Because if we cling to the old, we can't contain the new that God is pouring out!
So, "Be willing and ready to become a new wineskine. One that's flexible, open, ready, and watch how God’s new wine transforms everything."
Today, Jesus's challenge is still relevant and fresh for all of us.
Q. Are you holding onto the old, or are you ready for the new? Because God’s best is always ahead:
'new wine', new life, new possibilities, open up to Him and get ready to receive it!
Just "pour out the old, open up for the new, and let God do something fresh in you today."
God bless,
Trev.
