‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5: 14-16

Headsup Believers, Jesus is talking about YOU!

"You are the light of the world."

Imagine living life like Christ so much that you become a living beacon, that shines the Christ light in all directions!

Life as a follower of Christ isn't easy, but if we follow His examples, our acts of kindness, love, and good deeds will radiate the Christ light, illuminating everything and everyone around us!

So, be a beacon of love and kindness to everyone!.”

When we shine, we guide others to Jesus, and help make our world a brighter place!

So, “Let your Christ light illuminate the world around you.”

"A town built on a hill cannot be hidden."
It's very likely that the town Jesus alluded to here was Jerusalem! God's city, right here on earth, built on Mt Moriah, with its Temple and beautiful city walls visible from miles away. Their sight would raise the weary travellers spirits just like a beacon of hope. And when we remember that the Kidron valley, better remembered as the 'valley of the shadow of death' which lies between the Garden of Gethsemene and the Temple Mount we see symbolisms of death to eternal life, darkness to the light of Christ Jesus!

The prophet Isaiah wrote of the light of Jerusalem, prophecising that the light, that is Jesus, would come to save the world!

‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Isaiah 60:1-3

Throughout history, Jerusalem has and is a beacon of faith, hope, and tradition. And so Jerusalem is a perfect example of a city that can’t be missed by the weary traveller, shining into the darkness offering light to all!

When we live with love and integrity, our lives become just like a shining city on a hill, and our Christ light is impossible to quench!

So. “Shine like Jerusalem,

"a city on a hill that can’t be hidden.”

"Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl."
Don't ever try to hide your light, let it shine openly! Just as Jerusalem’s elevated position makes it visible from afar, our good deeds should be seen, so that others are inspired to do likewise. When we shine brightly others see our acts of love, hope, and the integrity of our faith glorifies the Father.

"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

“Your good deeds point others toward God’s greatness.”

Our actions, like that city on a hill, point people toward God’s greatness. When we live out our faith openly and authentically, we guide others toward hope, love, and the divine, that is found in Jesus!

Remember, Let your light shine and illuminate the world around you!

So, live boldly, let your Christ light shine all around, so that you are a shining example of hope and faith for everyone around you — just like Jerusalem, the city on the hill that all can see!

Shine brightly this week, and God bless.
