Cosmic Mission

AKA Your cosmic mission, should you wish to accept it!

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (Jesus speaking!)

Think of this passage from Matthew, not as some dusty ancient command, but rather as the ultimate startup launch strategy for a world-changing mission!

Your mindset reset? Yes, Good, for it's less about guilt-driven duty and more about being invited into a cosmic-level project with a guaranteed, mind-blowing outcome! (nothing dusty there!)

Let's dig deeper, firstly 'The Premise'

Before any instructions are given to us, Jesus lays down the foundation:

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."(v.18).

This isn't some hopeful statement; it's a declared fact! For Jesus is claiming the ultimate MD position over everything that exists, including visible and invisible! His authority is backed by the prophetic vision that we find in Daniel 7:13-14, where

"one like a son of man"

is given everlasting dominion and a kingdom that will never be destroyed.

And right here Jesus is saying;

"Daniel's prophetic vision? Guess what, It's me. The deal is done!"

And so our mission starts from a position of won authority, not from wishful thinking!

Then we have the Command: Be Agents of Integration, (which is the how)

jesus' famous "Great Commission" is the operational plan flowing from that authority. It’s a three-part directive for how we live in the now:

1. Make Learners: "Go and make disciples of all nations."

This isn't about forced conversions; it's an invitation to become a lifelong learner (a "disciple") in Jesus's way of living.

2. Initiate Through Immersion:

"Baptising them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."

This symbolises a full-immersion identity shift that's marked by the character of the divine community.

3. Teach The New Operating System: -

"Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

This is about installing within us a new framework for life that's based on love, justice, mercy, and reconciliation.

Think of it like this;

Your job isn't to guard the clubhouse; it's to run open-source tutorials for a better way to be human!

Finially we have 'The Promise': The Coming Merge (which is the "Why")

This is where things get epic. Our mission's end goal isn't just saving "souls" to escape earth! because the final promise that Jesus gives is

"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (v.20).

This points to the culmination of everything: the 'promise of a new earth'.

This is the future where the healing, justice, and peace (shalom) of heaven fully integrate with our physical reality. The earthly realm and the heavenly realm become one!

Think Revelation 21:1-3—a new heaven *and* a new earth,

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

This is where God's home is 'with' humanity. The separation is over.

The mission we're given now is the process of integrating those future realities; peace, wholeness, justice, into the present.

We're not waiting to evacuate Earth;

we're prepping for the ultimate merger where heaven and earth become one!

The Bottom Line
Matthew 28:16-20 is our invitation for,

We're operating under transferred authority (the premise),

we're tasked with integrating people into a new way of life (the command),

all while moving toward a guaranteed future where God's world and our world are finally, fully reunited (the promise).

We're not just waiting for the merge; we're helping beta-test it right now!

Have a great week, and God Bless,

Trev.
